By now, you have seen a girl by the name Scar Lip while scrolling down your Instagram or Tik Tok timeline. Similar to me, you’ve probably been wondering who is this girl is and where did she come from? I had the pleasure of chatting with Scar Lip. We talked humble beginnings and growing up in New York City. Scar revealed that she suffered a lot of abuse and trauma at a young age. Using poems and short stories as a way to express herself during those moments. Ultimately becoming well known in school for her pen by all her English teachers. But if was until an altercation with her brother that left her scarred, that Scar Lip was born. She was determined to use her pain for something positive. Building a name for herself and garnering lots of views across streaming platforms. Influenced by people like Scarface, Dmx, Eminem, Doja Cat and Pop Smoke; it is no surprise that although Scar delivers a unique sound she still remains lyrical. When asked about her thoughts on the current state of the frowned upon Drill scene, Scar said that drill was a way for traumatized young people to express themselves without actually becoming violent. She even talked about hopes of collaborating with popular drill rappers like Ice Spice and Jenn Carter. Unlike many new rappers, Scar already has big goals. The emerging star hopes to one day receive a platinum plaque, sell out an arena, hit billboard and give back to people who suffered similar situations growing up. Recently co-signed by Boosie with the right guidance and backing; Scar Lip will only go up from here. Listen to her latest single "Glizzy Gobbler" below:
