YS McKenzie is the founder and CEO of "Good For Life", plant based protein and supplements. Launched July 2021, after a trip to L.A. where she realized her purpose. While In L.A, YS delivered a care package to a friend. When he received the gift, he responded “I am gonna be good for life”. From that moment on YS knew it was her duty to make sure more people were "good for life".
LMCC: Where are you from? What was it like growing up there?
YS - I'm from Miami, growing up there was super unique. It is one of the most alive cities in the world. It is truly melting pot of an array of different cultures which exposed me to different walks of life, people, foods, art, music, etc.
LMCC- How would people close to you describe you?
YS- Determined, compassionate, loyal, reserved, & straight forward
LMCC- Being that you launched a plant based product, I take it your very healthy. What is your workout routine like?
YS - I typically workout in the evenings because I'm always super exhausted afterwards. I do 20 minutes of the stair master everyday, core and arms 2-3 days out of the week, 3 reps of 50 squats 3 days a week, and I run a good 2 miles every other day or so. As a small person (5’2 & 120pds) I try not to go too hard so I don’t loose the little weight I have, but I definitely do work up a sweat to stay active and healthy!
LMCC- What do you think about the current rise of female entrepreneurs?
YS - I absolutely love the rise of female entrepreneurs. This is the generation of women that the future is banking on, so with that said I am proud to be apart of that demographic.
LMCC- What are some things on your "Good For Life" bucketlist?
YS- Some things that are on my “Good For Life” bucket list are to definitely be in local and global grocery stores, to change peoples perception of the vegan/plant-based lifestyle, make differences in people’s lives, & of course to create a legacy for myself, my brand and future generations to come.
LMCC - If you could have an hour long conversation with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
YS- If I could have an hour long conversation with anyone it would be Jay-z. I always had this odd feeling that Jay & I would get along great for some reason. I feel like his advice and life lectures will be easy to comprehend and action. I can relate to his sharp wit and simple form of breaking down life, but if you were to ask me if I would do dinner with Jay-z or receive 500k Ill definitely take the 500k (*laughs like I am Jeezy)
LMCC- If you had to choose between true love and “Good For Life” being a household brand, what would you choose?
YS- I always find it funny when I am faced with questions like this because I feel like there shouldn’t have to be a choice between the two. I believe with the right amount of balance I can definitely find true love and create a legacy for myself and my company.
LMCC - Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
YS- In five years I see myself quitting my day job and running and operating “Good For Life” on a full-time basis, having a family of my own, & changing thousands of lives with this revolutionary product.
