If you follow me on Instagram, you're aware that I discovered Sizzyearlier this year and I've been completely captivated. While I'm a strong advocate for female rappers, there are rare occasions when one truly stands out to me. In August, I wrote an article expressing my frustration that Sizzy hadn't been signed yet. Despite recently discovering her, I delved into her background and found that she has been making waves for a few years. This year, she consistently released powerful singles that I believe should have propelled her into the mainstream. In a recent twist, she dropped a reimagined version of 50 Cent's classic "how to rob," where she showcased what it would be like if she targeted other female rappers. Although the clips gained some traction, I feel the song didn't receive the recognition it deserved. It may be because Sizzy needed to deliver the bars a little stronger. This raises the question: is Sizzy being overlooked, is she facing criticism or does she need a little work? One of the greatest challenges for female rappers is garnering support from their peers. It seems there's a competitive mindset among female rappers, possibly stemming from the historical dominance of only one woman in Hip Hop. However, let's not forget that in the 90s, there were numerous women at the forefront of Hip Hop, a scenario we can replicate today. Sizzy dropped a 4-track EP titled "Smoochie." Personally, I adore every song on the album, but I believe "Betty Boop" and "Kylie Jenner" exude an undeniable energy with impactful lyrics, perfect for captions and subliminal shots.
