Have you ever heard the saying "show me your friends and I will show you your future"? Studies show that the 5 people you hang around the most, are the 5 people you are most like. Are you hanging around people that you would like to be compared to? Are you hanging around with people who are genuine? Here are some signs your friend may be toxic and no good for you.
Situations Many times when you ask someone to explain their friendship with someone else, they reply he or she was there when I needed them most. Of course, a friend is a shoulder to cry on. Someone who always has your back. But have you ever taken a moment to think about all the people who do things with malicious intent. The people who do things just to get brownie points. What about the people who want a front row seat to your demise? Being at your worst doesn't expose real friends, being at your best does. How did your friend react when you got that promotion? Did she give you ideas for your new business venture? Real friends are genuinely happy for all successes in your life, no weird vibes or questions asked.
Possessive Fake friends tend to have a hard time understanding that your life doesn't revolve around them. They expect you to pick up every single phone call and make every event. If you don't, they try to make you feel extremely guilty for no reason at all. They also try to make you guilty for having other friends. Real people know that people are allowed to have multiple friends.
Low Key Shade Behind every joke is low key shade or the truth. Friends that tend to "throw shade" or say inappropriate things infront of others can not be trusted. For example, if you two are out with a group of guys and she says "omg you have soemthing on your face" infront of everyone, rather than wiping it herself or pulling you to the side. She definitely has a thing for dis-valuing you.
Arguments Real friends know that every disagreement shouldn't have to be an argument. If your friend turns every difference in opinion into a screaming match or a chance to take low blows, cut her off.
Trust If your friend constantly show signs of not trusting you, why would you trust her? Think about it, when has she ever kept a secret to herself? Real friends don't question you. Real friends believe in you. If every statement you make needs to be confirmed by google, let her go.
Convenience Fake friends tend to only reach out to you when it's convenient for them. You never get "just thinking of you", "I miss you" or "How are you?" texts. The texts normally consist of "Can I borrow?" or "do you have?". Real friends don't only think of you when they need something or a favor.
And last but not least...
YOUR BIRTHDAY
Now we all know Birthdays were the worst days but now we sip champagne when we thirsty. Lol but seriously If you have been friends for over ten years and your friend has never made it a priority to attend your birthday celebration, she's probably not really for you. People make time for what is important to them.
